Tokyo Declaration
INTRODUCTION
The International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS) 2025 Tokyo Declaration describes universal and fundamental principles supporting reproductive health rights of all parties seeking access to fertility care.
Sadly, Professor Sonia Allan, our esteemed member, Chair of the IFFS Special Interest Jurist Group and Assistant Editor of the IFFS Triennial Report, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. She had been fighting breast cancer for some time now.
Sonia was the force behind drafting the IFFS 2025 Tokyo Declaration, a landmark legal instrument which was her final contribution to academia, to IFFS, and the global health community.
We are deeply affected by her loss, and I have sent our condolences on behalf of the IFFS.
She was a major contributor to the Triennial Report, and we all admire her deep insight and knowledge on International law and her strong ethical position in the defence of reproductive rights.
