Fertility rates are falling. Why does that matter and what can we do? Choosing whether or when to have a child is a human right. But that right is meaningless if people can’t afford or access fertility care. Meanwhile, fertility rates are falling around the world – affecting men and women equally – and jeopardizing economic growth and social stability. We’re calling on policymakers to: Adopt family-building policies that include equitable access to, and reimbursement of, fertility care. Support development of simpler, more affordable high-quality assisted reproductive treatments. Prevent infertility risk factors such as infection, air pollution and proliferation of toxic chemicals. Support increased access to care, especially in low-resourced countries Together let’s ensure that everyone who wants to build a family can.
