The IFFS, a non-state actor (NSA) in official relations with the WHO, submitted the following statement to the 73rd World Health Assembly, held virtually on 18-19 May 2020. This statement, along with statements from other NSAs, is available on the WHO website

The IFFS, the largest organization of fertility societies of >50,000 healthcare professionals in 67 U.N. designated-countries, follows the vision that all women and men have access to quality fertility and reproductive health care.

The rapid spread of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, has created exceptional challenges for patients, doctors and health care providers for all aspects of health issues, including reproductive health. Couples and individuals considering pregnancy, pregnant women, those needing surgery and other reproductive health services and their health care providers face multiple uncertainties about the best and safest ways to move forward.

At the beginning of the pandemic we created the IFFS International Resource Center on COVID-19 and Reproductive Health through which we continually update information and education for healthcare specialists, patients and other stakeholders about the COVID-19 pandemic and recommendations for safe reproductive health care and public health care more broadly. In addition, we highlight research and clinical trials as well as latest breakthroughs that have been made during the pandemic from all over the globe.

As a Non-State Actor in official relations with WHO, IFFS fully supports recommendations being provided by WHO. We encourage all to access these available resources and those from country- and region-specific professional healthcare organizations about this rapidly evolving situation.
