Expanding fertility care in Latin America

The More Joy campaign is coming to South America this week!

IFFS will hold joint meetings with SAMeR (Argentine Society for Reproductive Medicine) on May 16th, in Buenos Aires, and with ALMER (Latin American Association for Reproductive Medicine) on May 18th in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The topic of discussion with colleagues and health authorities will be what can be done to address the global decline in fertility rates.

Most countries in Latin America have declining fertility rates and a call for action is needed, raising awareness in society and among health authorities and corporations on the need to improve access to infertility treatment and prevention care.

Access to infertility treatments is heterogeneous in Latin America, with full coverage offered in Argentina and Uruguay, partial coverage Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama, and no coverage in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia.

Fertility societies around the world are partnering with IFFS in this global campaign to liaise with local/regional regulators, stakeholders and policymakers to help make fertility care more affordable, accessible, and equitable.
