The European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) annual meeting kicks off July 1st in Paris and IFFS will be there to spread More Joy.
Dr. Luca Gianaroli will represent on behalf of IFFS as part of a symposium organized by Merck titled, “Fertility Forward: Together for Equitable ART Access” on Tuesday, July 1 at 14:00 in CET – Hall 7.3.
Dr. Gianaroli will discuss the challenges global fertility decline presents to healthcare professionals, particularly fertility specialists and how the More Joy campaign is working to make fertility care more affordable, accessible, and equitable.
More Joy was launched based on the IFFS consensus paper on infertility trends written by a coalition of fertility experts led by Dr. Bart Fausner. An update to that paper, Human Fertility at a Crossroad, highlights that more than half of countries globally have fallen below the population replacement threshold of 2.1 children per woman.
“…this [trend] is expected to increase to over 90% of all countries well before the end of this century. In some countries, especially Japan, China and Eastern and Southern Europe, the average number of children born per woman is approaching 1, indicating that, excluding migration, this population will halve in a single generation,” Fausner writes.
