On 8 July 2026, Serena Sgargi represented IFFS at the event “PMA per tutte: a che punto siamo e cosa succede dopo le 50.000 firme?” (“Assisted Procreation for All: Where Are We and What Happens After the 50,000 Signatures?”), held in Rome, Italy.

The event aimed to raise awareness of a proposal to amend Italian law and extend access to assisted reproduction to single women and female same-sex couples. Currently, access in Italy is limited to heterosexual couples who are married or in a stable relationship.

The event was organized by the “PMA per tutte – più diritti, più mamme” committee and Associazione Luca Coscioni, which has actively challenged the restrictions imposed by Italy’s Law 40 since its introduction. Dr. Luca Gianaroli serves as a General Council Member of the association.

By the day of the event, approximately 33,000 signatures had been collected in support of the proposal. A total of 50,000 signatures is required for it to be formally submitted to Parliament for consideration and debate.
